I have been working in the beauty industry since 1999. Starting as an Independent Beauty Consultant for a Cosmetic Company, I found myself drawn more to the hair side of the business. That love for styling hair goes back to my childhood when my mom told me that if I wanted long hair I had to know how to pull it back. By the age of 10 I could braid, twist, and ponytail my hair. By high school I was styling friends' hair for prom, homecoming or just plain fun.
After getting married and while I was still attending college, I got a part-time job as a shampoo girl which quickly turned into a strong desire to get my cosmetology license. While in beauty school I was introduced to hair competitions where creativity pushed the limits. After getting my license, I found myself doing a lot of formal styling in whatever salon I was in. After moving to Texas and back home to Virginia, I was introduced to the world of on location wedding styling and it was love at first pin. Working with brides to ensure they and their bridesmaids looked their best quickly became the focus of my career.
In June of 2014 I opened my own salon studio in Sola Salon's Mechanicsville location where my focus is still weddings but I can also continue to take care the wonderful clients who have supported me through my journey. They still encourage me as I have embarked on new ventures into the fashion world working on photo shoots and fashion shows.
I love my work and crazy as it may be. I love the hustle and bustle of the events I work and getting to share in someone's special day. It is an amazing experience to be behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week which can only be topped by the look on someone's face when you have just given them the perfect cut, color or style.
Wreaths Across America is one of two charities that I work with throughout the year. Every Christmas I am joined by my friends and family to pass out and lay wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery.
WearRVA is a local charity I became involved with in its inaugural year as Lead Hair Stylist. I have enjoyed continuing to work with the charity and love the confidence and self esteem it inspires in these young women.
